Welcome to my children and young people page.
Here you will find information about what counselling is, how it could help you and a bit more about me.
Firstly, let me explain that anyone under the age of 18 is considered a "child". However I recognise that the issues that effect a five year old are different from those that effect a 15 year old, also not all six year olds are the same, in the same way that all sixteen year olds are different. If you choose to come for counselling with me I will work with you in a way that is relevant and suitable to you as an individual.
Counselling can help you through difficult times. I have worked with lots of children and young people with a lot of different problems. Here are some of the problems children have come to see me about:

Bullying; in school, outside of school, online, via phone, by friends or enemies.
Family problems; parents splitting up, divorce, other pressures (the list is endless)
Anxiety; feeling scared all the time, worried about the future, the past.
Relationships; with friends, parents, teachers, boyfriends, girlfriends
Loneliness; not fitting in, unable to make good relationships, no one understanding, no one cares
Abuse; emotional, physical, sexual, domestic
School; problems with concentration, exam stress
Death of someone close and other losses
Suicide; feeling that "I don't want to live", friends who have killed themselves.
Emotional issues; mood swings, sadness, depression, feeling hyper, ADHD, Anger
Confidence; shyness, low self esteem, feeling like "I'm no good".
Whatever your problems are counselling can help you to make your life better.

What is counselling?Counselling is an opportunity for you to talk about your
problems with someone who really listens and cares about
what you have to say. It is totally safe and it is also
CONFIDENTIAL; this means that what you tell me I will
not tell anyone else unless you give me permission. I will
talk with you about this when we first meet to make sure
we both agree to a Confidentiality Contract.
I realise that some children and young people find it difficult to express what they feel in words. I will work with you to help you find a way to communicate; I may suggest that we use some arts and crafts or music, whatever feels comfortable for you.
A counselling session is usually 50 minutes.
I have an Enhanced CRB Check and specialist training for working with children and young people.
